Enlargement
Walt: enlarge pictures
Today in class we did enlargement. This was my enlargement that I did. I found this really easy to count the square but difficult because I’m not a confident drawer. We were using a scale factor that is 2 the size of the little square. Next I want to enlarge a bow.

Reading e asttle
In reading last week I got a 4p. I thought that it was quite good from recent test. I would of liked a better score but that's how it was. I hope that next time I can get a 5. My goal was to get a 4p and higher. I just reached my goal.

Tessellation
Walt: create and name tessellation patterns.
Today in our class we learnt about tessellation. Tessellation is a pattern that has no gaps or overlaps, which means that everything fits perfectly. You also have to name a tessellation, by doing that you must pick a vertex (point) anywhere of the pattern. Count how many shapes are linked to the same point and count the sides of the shape. Start from the smallest number. This tessellation here is 4.6.6.12.
Easttle maths
The other day we did our maths test. I was quite disappointed in my score that I got. I got a 4P but I wanted to get at least a 4A. I thought that I was prepared for the test. Although the score I got wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. I hope I will do better in the next test.
Area and Perimeter
Today I revised area and perimeter. I found it easy to find the perimeter but a bit difficult to find the area. I then realised that I just had to times the area x perimeter. I would use this activity again if I ever need to.

In topic we are learning about haiku. It's a traditional japanese poem. It consist of 3 lines. It goes 5 syllables , 7 syllables then back to 5 syllables. I wrote my own hailu but it was hard.
The waves kissed the shore
Snatching the delicate shells,
The wind whistled past

Integers.
This is our maths that we have been learning for the past week. All this term we are revising what we've learnt over the past terms. It was easy after a while. My main concern was that I would get it wrong. I really enjoyed it and would revise it again.

Figurative language.
This week we learnt all about figurative language. There are different types of figurative language. Personification, Onomatopoeia, Alliteration, Assonance, Rhyme, Hyperbole, Imagery, Repetition and Metaphor. There was a lot to learn in a week. I don't understand all of these aspects but I know a little bit.

Personification Poem
The Storm
Thunder stomping shattering the ground
Lightning blinking like a flashing light
I hear the rain like bullets on the roof
As the storm died down
The sky had cleared.

Before we left to sports camp
This is our squad that went to Totara Springs. Before we left this is the picture we took. I was so excited to go since I went last year and knew how fun it was. We had trained for almost 3 months. Mr Hendricks and all the other teachers gave up there time for us. We got ASB bags and water bottles to keep. I was ready to hit the road. Let's hope we win some trophies!!.

Hole in one golf
I learnt to play hole in one golf at sports camp. I stood on a hill and hit the ball into these circles. I also played it with Sete. His hands got sweaty and the golf club slipt out of his hands. He got player of the day out of the whole camp. We didn't make it into the semis but it was a fun experience.

Algebra at Tamaki College
Terminology
Expressions - Mathematical term for no equal sign
Variable - Mathematical term for letters
Coefficient - Mathematical term for number before the letter
Constant - Mathematical term for the number all by itself
When variables are the same, we call them like terms
When adding like terms keep the variable the same.
2a+5a= 7a
4c+5c= 9c
7p-4p= 3p
ab+2ab= 3ab
“Maths eyes”
If there is no number next to the letter the it always means one
2a+4c+5c+5a=
7a+9c
4b+3g+2b+6g= 15bg :(
Not allowed.
If the letters are not the same then keep them separate.
Algedra must be in alphabetical order.
3f+2g+4f+7g=
7f+9g
2a+3a2+4a=
Correct: 3a2 + 6a
If there is a exponent then it stays separate.
Today at Tamaki College we learnt this in maths class B12. I really enjoyed today and would like to come to this school.
I found out to get the little two then highlight it and push control dot. I recently learnt how to do it. If you want to do any challenges then go to freerice.com It donates rice to kids who haven't eaten for days. There's always something to learnt. That's what Miss Dunn said.

Sports has made me a better person
Walt: write an explanation
Sport has made me a better/worse person
Respect
I think that these values are important to people and sports players. Like when France beat the All Blacks in the world cup that the All Blacks didn't shake the opposition's hand. That's not sportsmanship like. I have some of these values and more to improve on.
Sport has made me a better person. I like playing sports but when I lose I need to respect the other team that they won for a reason. When my school netball team wins we need to be gracious winners because we always celebrate and make the other team feel bad. I need to respect others that they have different skills towards sport. I need to respect the umpire's decision. I need to respect the rules of the game and obey by them. I need to respect the teacher's decision.
Excellence has made me a better sports player because I am committed to trainings and pick up new skills. I support my teammates and engorge others when they make a mistake. I attend most sportcamp and netball trainings as I can.
I have become a better sports player thought the bond of friendship. It has helped me to work together with other people and share my learning. I enjoy meeting new friends sports related. In the past few years I have made lots of friends at the netball courts.
These are all my values that I have to improve on. I have many values to improve and hope that I can use them in sports. Using these values in sports will help you in the real world.

Mr. Yamasaki
Today we did origami with our Japanese teacher Mr. Yamasaki. We were learning to make a crane (the bird). I didn’t make a crane because I had to leave class. Next week we’re going to make sushi. I want to learn the Japanese alphabet.

Cook Island Language Week
Today we had three visitors from Auckland Museum that came to our school. I learnt much about their language and history of their ancestors of how they made their rope out of coconuts. The ancestors burnt a tree log and scraped out the charcoal to make it deep. They said that the american team got the inspiration from the ancestors. We were introduced to a special drill. There was a special way to work it they asked boys and girls. I was the only one to show them how it worked. I liked how we got to interact with the equipment and weave the rope through the wood. I hope that they can come back again to teach us more about other things.

Matching Metaphors
Walt: match metaphors with meaning in sport and nonsport activities
Few days ago we were introduced to sport and nonsport metaphors. To help the classroom we all got into groups of three and matched the meaning. The target writing group had already done it so they stepped out, at the end they checked to see if it was right. I really enjoyed the metaphors In also used it in one of my writings I did. The metaphor were really handy and easy to link to sports related and not. My metaphor that I used was " jump the gun".

Measuring Angles
In this game I measured 10 angles. It was easy because I got the help from Petuana. She said " If it's more than 90 then you count the top. i did understand a little bit of this game. The hardest I really enjoyed this activity and would love to play this more often.

Decorating muffins with patterns
For the past weeks my class has been doing patterns. We had to work out what would be the rule for the patterns. It was a new learning experience that I never knew you could do with patterns. It was quite easy but difficult applying the rule. The fun bit was when we got to design our own patterns on muffins. We had to use three elements but two had to be fruit. In the end there was a judging session. The winner was on the bottom right. I would love to do this again. Next I want to lean more algebra and interact with food.

Keep S.M.A.R.T.
Walt: discuss goal setting with Dreydon and Kate
Dreydon, Kate and Tommy all came along for a visit to our school. They shared a presentation that showed how their 80 km walk went. “The Hillary Trail walk was a challenge,” Dreydon said to our table. They gave our school some money that they fundraised by doing the Hillary Trail walk in under 24 hours. Dreydon talked us through his presentation about setting goals.
Dreydon told us that the main thing you would need is the right equipment and right support team. He showed us his equipment that he took. The first thing he showed us was a camel pack that could hold upto 2 litres and some food. The next was a cramp spray and pills, a head torch, a merino jacket and trail walking shoes.
Dreydon told us about himself doing the ironman challenge. There were also awards for the team. There was one lady that finished even though she wanted to pull out at every stop but she strived on. They made there own iron man/iron lady award and she got it. They trained continuously day after day so they would be ready for any obstacles. Dreydon showed us acrostic poem that spelt S.M.A.R.T.
S - pecifc
M - easurable
A - chievable
R - elevant
T - ime bound
When he concluded his presentation he wanted the whole class to take a photo to remember. Few days later Dreydon and Kate sent us a card saying Thank you for having us, there was also 6 bags of pineapple lumps.

Nga Tatarakihi o Parihaka
This is my summary that I wrote about my story.
Rarawa and Aunty Maata heard the news that the government was here. They read a proclamation saying that the soldiers were coming in two weeks. Tohu and Te Whiti held a meeting for everyone to come. Everyone was surely going to the meeting. The government was ruining the village and Te Whiti tried his best to stop them. The soldiers marched up to the marae. They then marched away with Te Whiti and Tohu.

Skipping
This is my class down at Glen Innes Centre. I wasn’t there but they said it went well. Dion was there as well but he didn’t skip because of his badly injured leg. My friends said that they had fun. It was our last year skipping since we're all year eights.

Basic facts
Walt: Do a timed basic facts
I think I did better than I thought. I got 90% out of 100% in my basic facts that I did. I thought the stage was to low for my standards and should of went for a higher level. I did struggle because of the timed test but I could of done better. I don't do well rushing and I panic. I will improve by trying not to panic.

Co ordinates
Walt: Revisit length, mass and capacity in measurements.
Today I played this game on my site. It was co ordinates so you had to find where the point was. I got 11 correct and 1 wrong. I thought it was quite easy and I should of went to the harder level. I would suggest to play this if you want to improve your co ordinates skills. Click here http://www.funbrain.com/co/index.html to play this game. I would play this game again to revise my co ordinate skill.

Cutting
This is a poem I wrote in class. My poem is called cutting and is for those who are not wanting to live life. I want them to read this and change their mind.
Cutting
Put it down it’s not worth the risk,
Take a breather and count to ten,
Feel the crave go away,
Take control so you don’t go astray,
When the count is up you will feel a better person,
You wouldn’t want to harm yourself,
Take it away,
Put it down it’s not worth the risk.

How to be a good egg.
I was a good egg by giving a homeless person money when I walked past. My nieces came over and I helped look after them. And I also sold all my tickets for our raffle were doing at school. I also won my netball game from Saturday. Andrea, Lana, Petuana and I went to OMG Tech Rangers to represent our school and learn things we have never learnt.

Puns
In class we are learning about puns. Our class had two pictures on of a netball and on of Mr Hendrixs. We had to draw eyes of both of the pictures because my teacher always says “eyes on the ball.” Mr Hendrix's always says “ Eyes by me.” I didn’t realize that it said Eyes by me because some people say eyes on me. I like the pun “ Did you hear about the guy whose left side is cut off” reply “ Is he all right now.”

What went wrong
Walht: write a interesting and enjoyable narrative.
Chris is a little man. He has been like that since birth, his very unfortunate mother had a disorder that made her little. The doctors said it was likely for the gene to be carried down to her baby. When Chris was born his mother knew it would have cursed forever. But as he got older he planed a way out of if. But for that to happen he would have to go to greater lengths.
When Chris turned 16 he was more linked to be like all the other kids. One day at school Chris was feeling miserable. The sky was gloomy with patches of grey. As the bell went for recess he walked past the science lab and he glared at the science books. He decided to see if there was something science could do. He searched through every book in the class. At last he found him a recipe for growth it was originally made for plants but Chris was to hyped on excitement to have a second look.
Chris scurried around the classroom. All the ingredients were flying around the room. Dark green, tangy yellow and even at one point it got to deep mahogany. A popping sound rebounded against the wall like someone hitting a squash ball. He gulped down the serum. Chris felt a slight sensation as it digested inside of him. The serum was working he was growing as high as a skyscraper. He was shocked, Chris started to run through town. Smashing cars, over buildings he had no clue at all. People were scared of him. He thought to himself well at least I’m not small anymore.
Chris’s feelings got the best of him. He hid away where no one would seek. As Chris was hiding he felt this tingling inside of him. His arms was getting smaller, his legs and head. He realized that he was downsizing. Chris was so happy he came to his knees. Chris was glad to be back to his tiny little self. He wondered what happened to he went back to check. He missed one ingredient which made the serum dissolved that made him shrink.
So every time Chris walks past the science lab he thinks about that one fatal day. He will never do that again.

Multiplying Fractions
Walht: Multiply fractions.
I played this online game that my teacher gave us. She taught us how to cancel and get the answer in a simpler way. I would play this game again because I understood what I was doing. If I didn’t understand then I would have put 4 over 36. The next thing I want to learn is calculating time and speed.

The Order of Operations Millionaire Game
Walht: Use the order of operation BEDMAS to solve problems.
This online activity helped me a lot. I didn’t know what it was going to be like. I really enjoyed playing this activity. It gave me a real math rush that I just couldn’t stop. The difficult bits were not much really just getting the exponents right. Also when I went up higher it got a bit harder for me. I don’t think that I do lack a little bit of understanding I just need to be taught to refresh the memory. There was some that were challenging for me but more confusing. I can work it out mentally. I want there to be an online activity for LCM and HCF.

Ice cream sandwich
The light texture of the cold delight in front of me. So Irresistible I want to take a bite. The chocolate hard as rocks sit still like a anchor at the bottom of the ocean. Eating it one bite at a time the cold sensation makes my teeth cold. The richness of the taste makes my taste buds burst with joy. Wanting to have more it’s all gone.
